A Most Excellent Weekend

My 4th of July weekend was most excellent. I did a lot of fishing which was nice. I recently picked it up again. I used to do it all the time as a kid every time I went to Idaho. I haven't done it in almost 10 years. Now that I'm back into it, it's been perfect. I've enjoyed being outdoors and have also enjoyed the sport of fishing. I love the outdoors. I love the skill of fishing. The feeling of catching something. This is yet another thing I can put towards my effort of doing as much as I can this summer. I haven't caught much except for my terrible farmers tan. Otherwise I've caught small fish. But that's ok.

I hung out with friends, took drives to scenic parts of Utah hoping to find more secluded fishing areas. The Uintas are the closest I have ever been to finding something similar to Utah. Similar in that it's secluded, heavily forested, beautiful. (Unfortunately it takes 2 hours to achieve that) Those are qualities Utah wilderness lacks. Especially the secluded part. I like being in the wilderness to be away from a ton of people, not be near a ton of people who think they love nature.

I've noticed all this time from work has made me happier. I've been doing things. I've been doing something with my time for once. If I could get better regular sleep, it would be perfect. I noticed since I quit working nights my sleep patterns have changed. I'm not talking about the obvious pattern of sleeping at night like everyone else instead of during the day. I've noticed that when I worked nights, I got more hours of sleep (Around 9-12 hours on average.) But the quality of sleep was terrible. Now that I'm working days I'm getting excellent quality of sleep. But I'm getting less of it. (4-8 hours on average.) I have trouble disciplining myself to sleep at a certain times to get adequate sleep. The night person in me wants to stay up all night. Lousy insomnia.

Otherwise, I haven't done too much. Just been working, fishing, hanging out. I would like to do more stuff this summer to make the best of it. This is definitely one of the better summers I've had in years. Unfortunately it's already half over. Another semester of school is just around the corner and another 6 months of bullshit winter is lurking in the distance.

Let's go summer!
